Basic Barista

This course is designed to teach students the basics of professional espresso coffee making as well as the underlying workplace hygiene practices that should be used in the process. It is comprised of 2 nationally recognised units of competence:
- SITXOHS002A Follow workplace hygiene procedures, and
- SITHFAB012A Prepare and serve espresso coffee.
The underpinning knowledge components of these units are assessed online however there is a large skill component that must be assessed in the workplace or simulated training environment through direct observation. The observation checklists that will be used by the assessor are provided in the course material for review and use by workplace supervisors if applicable.
